Whatever the concern is, it’s okay to seek help!
#BreakTheStigma
It all began with a research project idea for school. After conducting a qualitative study about what helps or hinders individuals from seeking and remaining in mental health services, the answers were clear. The number one reason individuals did not seek counseling or mental health services when needed was the stigma behind receiving services.
As a mental health professional in the field now for more than 25+ years, it still pains me to hear about the people we lost because they did not get help, were encouraged not to get help, or were shunned because they needed help. We have to stop this and stop the unnecessary losses that are associated with untreated mental illness.
This clothing line was birth out of the passion and desire to campaign against the stigma of mental health services. Let’s work together to make going to see a therapist as “normal” as going to see your Primary Healthcare Physician. As therapists, we are considered Allied Healthcare professionals and work alongside physicians. Together we are strong and can present a united front. Sales of these t-shirts go to support our efforts through the counseling agency, to provide value-added services for our patients and our local communities.
